New FAMU NAA President Curtis E. Johnson, Jr.

Curtis E. Johnson, Jr. was sworn in as the new president of the Florida A&M University (FAMU) National Alumni Association (NAA). Johnson, a Fort Pierce city commissioner, was elected to serve a four-year term.  

Johnson served as NAA National Board-Sergeant-At-Arms, succeeding Gregory Clark, who served two terms as president. Among his vision, Johnson hopes to grow active membership to more than 10,000 members. 

Johnson is the founder and CEO of The Cuvey Group, LLC, a human resource, learning and development, and marketing strategy consulting firm.

Before founding The Cuvey Group, Johnson worked in business-to-business sales for such companies as Country Financial and Regus. He has worked in pharmaceutical sales at Gilead Sciences, Pfizer, and Eli Lilly.  

Johnson earned a bachelor’s in business and an MBA with a concentration in marketing from the FAMU School of Business and Industry (SBI). He is a SHRM Certified Professional, DISC certified workshop facilitator, John Maxwell Certified Speaker, Coach and Trainer. He also held 6 & 63 securities licenses and has been a FAMU NAA National Board Officer.  

Johnson is also president of The Phrozen Pharaoh Foundation, a nonprofit that believes in the power of mentorship to help young people in St. Lucie County and the surrounding areas learn and grow educationally, socially, emotionally, and physically. 

Among those elected to the executive board were Artisha R. Polk, who was elected first vice president. She has served in six FAMU NAA chapters, regions, and national offices. Yolanda L. Pickard was elected second vice president, while Angela Freeman was elected third vice president. Karla Johnson Harris was elected unopposed as financial secretary; Angelia N. Williams was elected treasurer, and Morgan Culler was elected recording secretary.
